This Uniden Home Patrol 1 has been meticulously taken care and gently used by my wife. The unit works fantastically. The screen does not have any scratches and works perfectly. There are a few scuff marks on one of the corners, see pictures, but still looks GREAT) Why am I selling the scanner? Unfortunately our local Emergency Services has received a grant from our state and has now converted to a digital trunking system. I had to purchase a much more expensive scanner for my wife for Christmas so she could follow the conversations on both the analog and the digital channels. We are selling this unit to someone who needs a great scanner for an analog system. Most of the country is still using analog systems because of the enormous expense for the EMS systems to upgrade to digital trunking. This unit is one of the easiest scanners to set up. Take it out of the box, plug it in and enter your zip code. The scanner will load the frequencies used in your zip code and you are ready to scan. It also has the ability to block ones you do not want or to add new frequencies that my not be in the data base yet. While it is super easy to use, it is still very powerful if you want to get into programming it manually. My first few scanners had to be set up manually and it took hours. First I had to identify who I wanted to listen to, then find out what frequencies they used and then go buy a crystal for each channel, take apart the scanner and install all the crystals. Then scanners became programmable, but I still had to identify who I wanted to hear and the frequencies they used. Then enter each frequency one at a time and it still took hours to program and that's assuming I didn't make any mistakes while entering all those frequencies. With this unit, you will be scanning in 5 minutes after entering your zip code. Please feel confident purchasing this scanner, as I have a 100% positive feedback rating and strive to keep it by making sure I am honest in my descriptions. Get a great scanner that lists for $500 at a great price. Our home is smoke free.
