You will instruct Coast Guard recruits in physical fitness and swimming. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Instructing recruits in physical fitness and swimming classes. Assisting with recruit indoctrination on the value of proper training, safe equipment usage, nutrition, and performance enhancing substances. Performing maintenance on all fitness equipment. Planning and administering tests. Developing and reviewing procedures for administering tests. Preparing reports regarding testing sessions. At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service; OR 1 full year of graduate level education; OR superior academic achievement. Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. 1. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.2. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of:
3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (B+ or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include:
Instructing physical fitness and swimming; development or reivew of training/course materials; evaluation of training results; or administering a swimming or physical fitness instruction program.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
