Duties
This position is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of medical records at the Training Center Cape May Medical Clinic.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Determining the methods necessary to assemble medical records in proper sequence, ensuring all necessary forms and documents are present, accurate, and complete.
Making recommendations to improve procedures for compiling and retrieving medical records information.
Appoints patients and maintains medical officer's appointments.
Preparing correspondence and summaries of medical records in response to a variety of requests.
Reviewing medical records to gather information on the reasons for admission and length of stay using special screening criteria.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level;
OR Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include: Serving as a medical records technician performing records work concerned with reviewing, analyzing, processing, and maintaining medical records; compiling or extracting medical records data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; and performing a variety of related duties.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
